The role is based in Wholesale Data & Analytics IT, which is responsible for both the definition of general data management architectural and IT principles/best practices for the rest of Wholesale IT to follow and the provision of core data services for consumption by the Wholesale business. Responsibilities
- Rapidly understanding business requirements through regular interactions with the Wholesale Chief Data Office (CDO), business users and other subject matter experts.
- Translation of business requirements into data models, solution designs and functional requirements.
- Communication of functional solutions, data models to business users, development teams plus ongoing support as needed.
- Active promotion of data modelling principles, best practice techniques, standards and tools
- Active contribution to Project/System Data Architecture Solution definition and documentation including adherence to Group standards
- Close collaboration with the Wholesale CDAO in ensuring models support the identification of Trusted Source, ownership and the creation of scalable, re-usable data assets.
Requirements
- Proven Logical Data Modelling skills; delivering artefacts and adhering to required governance standards
- Proven strength in conceptual and logical thinking, ability to abstract information and look at the bigger picture.
- Experience in designing Enterprise logical models with good understanding on abstraction techniques
- Knowledge or experience in industry models/modelling standards like BIAN, FSDM, BDW etc.
- Proven ability to balance analytical excellence and momentum in delivery. Continually able to demonstrate value and throughput from the modelling process
- Proven analysis skills with the ability to challenge designs / decisions.
- Experience in managing and resolving complex issues using proven analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to quickly get up to speed with the current data landscape and apply acquired analysis and data skills to new contexts and approaches.
- Building relationships and networking, with high levels of motivation and collaboration
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills. A strong ability to communicate virtually e.g. conference calls and video conferencing
- Strong leadership and an ability to articulate, present and obtain approval for solutions at the right level for a wide audience (IT and Business)
- Strong planning, organisation and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to work to deadlines
- Commercial acumen and ability to apply this to Business and IT data requirements
- A track record of consistently looking for ways to do things better and a good understanding of the mechanism necessary to successfully implement change
- Self-awareness and with the confidence to work independently
- Relevant Experience:
- Experience of Financial Services and specifically within data domains / functions (e.g. Data Management, Data Architecture, Data Governance)
- Demonstrable knowledge of Data Management tools and techniques
- Good working knowledge of relevant tools e.g. Visual Paradigm, IBM Infosphere Data Architect or CA Erwin Data Modeler (Preferable to be familiar with Collibra or Informatica Data Management Suite).
- Experience of eliciting, documenting and verifying requirements for the use of data across the organisation (Global Businesses and Global Functions) as appropriate to project scope
- Experience of working within a large, complex and geographically dispersed projects (including across time zones)
- Previous experience as a data analyst, solutions analyst or architect including delivery of data artefacts e.g. data models, data flow diagrams & metadata would be beneficial
