ABOUT THE PROJECT
Digital Business Automation (DigiBA) are a global function with over 270 staff in 12 countries. We are responsible for defining and implementing the strategy for several critical scheduling and workload automation products across the organization, as well as ensuring their availability, recoverability, and security.
For this position, the AWS Engineer will be responsible for end-to-end configuration & support of several AWS environments which support a Splunk Enterprise solution in AWS cloud. He/she will be responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of automated deployment modules for Splunk components into AWS Cloud and delivering solutions in multiple environments including Security and Networking modules and optimising the cost of operation. The AWS engineer will be working closely with the Splunk team to understand the requirements for the AWS hosting environment to support the Splunk Enterprise implementation.

Responsibilities
- Designing and implementing secure cloud solutions that meet business requirements including Security and Networks
- Create and configure virtualized systems in the AWS environment using Terraform.
- Performing cloud infrastructure upgrades and updates to maximize system efficiency while minimizing downtime.
- Deploying and configuring Splunk in AWS using EC2 instances, SSM and Lambda.
- Maintaining, testing, and implementing disaster recovery procedures.
- Manage scaling of infrastructure to reduce costs but maintain performance.
- Implementing automation using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl) to manage AWS services
- Building tools for deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting of system resources in an AWS environment.
- Create technical documentation.
- Support Splunk engineering colleagues to develop their understanding and familiarity with the AWS environment
- Adhere to HSBC policy, procedures, and control requirements applicable to day-to-day working.
Requirements
- Required: AWS cloud, Terraform, CI/CD Pipeline, Network experience, AWS security, AWS Cloud cost experience
- Optional : Puppet, Ansible, Python scripting, Perl, Bash scripting
- Understanding of core AWS services, uses, and AWS architecture best practices
- Excellent experience in Terraform Enterprise and/or other firm-specific multi-cloud provisioning platform
- Programming with AWS APIs
- Leveraging AWS SDKs to interact with AWS services.
- Knowledge and experience with testing, releasing, and CI/CD pipeline deployments into AWS using tools like Ansible, Jenkins, ServiceNow
- AWS security, high availability and cost using a Infrastructure-As-Code methodology.
- General troubleshooting and debugging
- Demonstrated ability to build self-service, self-healing, highly scalable and secure cloud software capabilities
- Experienced with Agile methodologies, processes, and procedures
- Full working proficiency in English
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience on other public clouds like GCP or Azure [nice to have]
- Automation using RedHat Ansible [nice to have]
- Previous experience as a user or working on infrastructure to support Splunk Enterprise [nice to have]
